Posted: 19 Jan, 2024.

JB Kind has chosen South Derbyshire CVS (Community Voluntary Support) as its nominated charity for the next two years. The charity was nominated by staff, with JB Kind employees keen to contribute towards improving the quality of life for people in the local area.

Also based in Swadlincote, South Derbyshire CVS offers an emergency food bank, as well as befriending and mental wellbeing support service. The charity helps people who may be struggling with their wellbeing for a number of reasons such as loneliness, isolation or financial hardship. They are currently running a Winter Giving Campaign which raises money for their services during the challenging colder months when there can be a major increase in demand.

South Derbyshire CVS also runs a Volunteer Force. Over the next two years, this will provide an opportunity for the JB Kind team to get even more actively involved in the local community.

JB Kind Managing Director, James Cadman, says: “All our staff are aware of the cost-of-living crisis and how this has had a big impact on many people in the local area, so South Derbyshire CVS was a very popular choice. We’ve had some initial discussions with the charity and our fundraising will be primarily directed towards the food bank they run and their Mental Well-being Support Service.”

James continues: “Our charity committee works really hard to put the fun into fundraising and create an exciting calendar of events throughout the year. We are really excited to be working with South Derbyshire CVS and to be making a real difference right here in our local community.”

We are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of our community.”

It is fantastic to be supported by a business which shares our passion for helping those in need in our community and we can’t wait to see what we achieve together in the future.”

JB Kind will be planning a number of fundraising activities throughout the year, which includes a Charity Golf Day in September, their main fundraising event and smaller activities including Easter raffles, cake bakes, sports sweepstakes and dress down days. The organisation has a Charity Committee, set up in 2012, which has raised more than £40,000 for various charities including the local air ambulance, hospice, stroke club, National Memorial Arboretum, Macmillan and Dementia UK.

In 2022/23, JB Kind raised £6,300 for Burton & District Mind, through employee fundraising.
