Internal bedroom door sizes
We know not every property has the same internal bedroom door measurements. This is why we offer internal doors in a range of sizes. There are a number of different standard door sizes in the UK. Door size: 1981(H) x762(W) x35(D) mm, often referred to as a 2’6” door is the most common internal door size in England and Wales. Whereas 2040(H) x726(W) x40(D) mm is the most common door size in Scotland. When you select a door you are interested in you will be able to see the sizes available. However, you can always get in touch with us if you have more specific requirements.

Internal Bedroom Door FAQs
While there are no specific building regulations solely for internal bedroom doors, they must meet general building and safety standards. This ensures they are durable enough to withstand daily use and prevent accidental injuries. However, in certain circumstances, building regulations may require the use of a fire rated door.
JB Kind offer both finished and unfinished door products. Finished doors (also known as pre-finished) are supplied ready to fit with either a varnish or paint finish. Unfinished timber doors are prepared ready for the customer to add a door stain or varnish of their choice. White primed doors are ready for a topcoat paint finish.
Building regulations state that fire doors are required if the bedroom leads off a landing in a building with three or more floors or if the bedroom is part of a loft conversion. Fire doors are designed to slow the spread of fire, providing additional safety for occupants.
Ensuring compliance with these standards is essential for both safety and regulatory approval, particularly in new builds or renovations.
There are no specific building regulations for handles and locks on standard internal bedroom doors. However, they should be easy to operate, ensuring accessibility and safety while providing adequate security to prevent unauthorised access or accidental injuries.
If building regulations require a fire door for the bedroom – such as in properties with three or more floors or loft conversions – then the door’s ironmongery (handles, locks, hinges) must comply with fire safety standards. This includes using fire-rated hardware that meets the requirements specified in the door’s fire test certification, ensuring the entire assembly offers the necessary fire protection.
